On a single night in 2017, an estimated 184,661 people in families, including children, experienced homelessness. Families in Emergency shelters has more than doubled, from 756 in 2010 to 1,570 in 2014 in Columbus . While Emergency Shelters provide the immediate support these families need, they face insurmountable stress while living in transitional housing, affecting family bonds and relationships.

Join the Columbus Chapter of because I said I would as we host a Family Picnic for families experiencing homelessness. We will be hosting this event for the families staying at the YWCA Family Center, which provides emergency shelter and critical services to stabilize homeless families in central Ohio. With this event we are providing families a chance to relax, interact with other supportive adults and most importantly, an opportunity to bond with each other.

What: Family Picnic with games, food and the opportunity for families to take family pictures with polaroids! We will also have a small craft station for kids to decorate frames for their new family portraits!

When: Saturday, June 16 th from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM.

Where: YWCA Family Center located at 900 Harvey Court, Columbus, OH 43219

Who: Volunteers must be 18 and over. We have a limited number of spots for this event and those who want to volunteer must RSVP to secure a spot.
